Aiming to revamp the Norton security software, Windows security vendor Symantec has decided to tighten its nine products to just one. The new product that unites nine in just one has been named Norton Security.
While announcing the decision in a blog post, the company said that it has planned to clean and revamp the face of its long-running products offering security software. The firm hopes clearer software products will put a lid on security breaches and scandals and check the cyber threats.
Industry insiders say the move has come in the light of the company turning its attention to connected devices and smartphones. However, the company said they are planning to maximize its Norton business while streamlining the product support. Symantec recorded a USD 236 million profit on a 2 percent gain in revenue to USD 1.74 billion in its most recent quarter.
Norton Security will go on sale from September 23. According to the company, the new nine in one security software will come with USD 80 a year price tag.
Norton Security will constitute all antivirus, spam-monitoring and spyware. Moreover, the new product will also possess the features of Norton Internet Security, Norton AntiVirus and Norton 360.
According to the company, Norton Security most closely resembles the Norton 360 Multi-Device.
“Too many of us remain vulnerable to advanced threats. If we want to free ourselves to take full advantage of our amazing digital, interconnected world, we need to secure ourselves,” the company said in a statement while adding, “With that in mind, we at Norton are making significant changes to simplify and strengthen our portfolio of security products. We are making it easier to select and buy the security products you need and download and maintain them.”
The new product is compatible with Windows and Mac computers and also their smartphones running Android and iOS.
