As per a new CDC report, there has been a drop of 14 percent in the birth rate for unmarried mothers.
In recent years, there are several sources on the internet that are dedicated towards providing an explanation about the rise of unmarried mothers. Since the year 1940s, there has been a rise in the birth rate to unmarried mothers.
However, as per a new report from CDC or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there has been a reverse in this trend from the year 2012-2013. The declines were mainly by women who are under 30 years old. The biggest drops were seen in black and Hispanic women.
The most common reason for a lower rate is the phrase “Illegitimate”, which is attached to it, as per the conservative family values. The birth rates for married women have not fallen quickly as compared to that of unmarried women. Instead, a slight increase has been seen.
The downward trend of teen pregnancy is a result of changing attitudes surrounding young moms and better contraception, as per a new finding. Credits were also given to the show, Teen Mom, that comes on MTV. As per the most recent data, it is shown that there has been a drop in the birth rate for teenagers aged 15-19 by 6 percent.
In spite of public perception, unmarried moms and teen moms aren’t the same thing. Only 15 percent of teen births are represented by non marital births. The largest no. of births outside of marriage are associated with mothers in their 20s. However, a change may be seen soon, as there has been a decline in the teen birth rate and it has now spread to older unmarried women. Nowadays, women over 30 choose to have children outside marriage.
