What if a bucket of ice-cold water is splashed on you as a prank? Obviously, no one would like it. What would you feel if you were asked for dumping a bucket of freezing water on yourself? You will obviously be irritated and this would be natural reaction for participating in such a stupid-sounding stunt.
However, this challenge of dumping a bucket of cold water on themselves was taken up by some brightest minds in the industry and before their intelligence is questioned, lets be clear that it was done as part of #icebucket challenge on Twitter for raising awareness and for funding for ALS or Armyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a degenerative neurological condition and Lou Gehrig’s Disease, that was named after famous baseball player, who had suffered from this illness.
CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, CEO of T-mobile US, John Legere, CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg are amongst the ones who have given their whole-hearted participation in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, along with donation of a handsome amount there.
Videos of their brave efforts were recorded there and were posted online for others so that motivation can be taken. Other CEOs who have participated include Larry Page, the Co-Founder of Google, Jeff Bezos, and the CEO of Amazon etc. Even Obama wanted to take the challenge, but avoided dumping ice-cold water on himself. Instead he preferred donating some money. Besides the CEOs, celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon also got attracted towards this good cause.
Pete Frates, the ALS patient from Massachusetts had started this ice bucket challenge and now it has gained a lot of popularity with high profile personalities, entrepreneurs and celebrities, who are participating enthusiastically. More and more participants are being involved in this as one person who dumps a bucket of ice cold water on himself gets the privilege of nominating 3 other people.
