Health workers in Liberia are an amazed lot these days. Hospital beds reserved for Ebola patients are lying vacant in various treatment centres. This could be a sign that Ebola is on the decline in Liberia or it could instead be a lull in the disease affected region of Liberia.
Of the three countries where Ebola had struck, Liberia had suffered the maximum in terms of human casualty. Around 5,000 people have died of Ebola in the disease affected region with maximum of these being in Liberia.
Around 696 beds had been reserved recently for patients suffering from Ebola in treatment centres in Liberia. However, the encouraging news is that around two third of these have been lying vacant and medical staff deputed for taking care of these patients have now heaved a sigh of relief.
However, the international aid agencies including medical specialists from United States are adopting a cautious approach, as of now. It has plans to build over 20 Ebola treatment units in Liberia for the patients as it foresees that thousands others might have been infected from Ebola and would be coming in the due course of time to these treatment centres.
Meanwhile, Ebola is on the decline in United States and one of the last patients is under observation now. It is due to stringent precautionary measures being put by US health authorities that the disease is on the decline in United States.
Meanwhile with decline in fresh cases of Ebola in Liberia, the researchers can now focus on reasons as to why this deadly disease spread in the first place.
