If you are one of those people who need at least one cup of good coffee to start the day, you will soon have the coffee right at your door because the Starbucks delivery service has just been announced. The CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz said in a conference call on Thursday that his company is planning to start a food and beverages delivery service starting next year.
Starbucks delivery service will provide customers with all their favorite products at their desired address.
The deliveries will first be available only at a few specific markets, to customers who are in the loyalty program. Then the delivery service will be made available to everyone and Starbucks said that this will be in the form of a mobile app. The delivery mobile app will be released in Portland, Oregon next month and then it will expand to the rest of the country.
The Starbucks delivery service app will allow the members to order and pay for their favorite coffee and other Starbucks products using their smartphones.
The Starbucks CEO said about their upcoming delivery service that:
“Imagine the ability to create a standing order of Starbucks delivered hot to your desk daily. That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.”
Unfortunately for Starbucks, there is already a growing market in home deliveries. There are a few popular online delivery services specialized in providing food and beverages, like grubHub, Caviar or Postmates. Taco Bell announced a few weeks back that they will release a new delivery service through a mobile app. Although the Starbucks delivery service is not the first of its kind, the company will surely benefit from it because everyone loves Starbucks coffee. Also, the company’s revenue has improved a bit since the last time they announced their decrease. The company is growing and has opened 500 new stores worldwide, adding to the total of 21,366 Starbucks stores in 65 countries.
Starbucks delivery service available next month in Portland
The new Starbucks delivery service will premiere in Portland, Oregon next month and it will spread to other US cities in the next year.
