Sony has announced that its new smartphone Xperia Z3v will only be available through the US carrier Verizon Wireless. Until now the Xperia Z models could only be purchased from another carrier, T-Mobile. Until now those who wanted to have the new Sony phone had to pay $700-$800. Things have changed for the better. The Xperia Z3v is now available for everyone through Verizon Wireless, since it’s one of the largest US carriers.
The Xperia Z3v resembles the previous Sony Xperia Z2 and the specifications are similar. There are however some differences. The new Xperia Z3v has a 5,2 inch display (this is exactly like the previous Xperia Z3 phone), a screen resolution of 1920x1080p full HD, A 2.5 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor. The new Xperia Z3v comes equipped with 2GB of RAM and an internal storage capacity of 32GB. The Xperia Z3v features a 2.2 megapixels front camera and a 20.7 megapixels rear camera. The battery on the new Sony Xperia is a 3.100mAh that supposedly can last for up to two days in normal usage. The Xperia Z3v runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
One of the best features of the Xperia Z smartphones, including the Xperia Z3v, is that they are water and dust proof. So Sony says. We still remember the scandal about the Xperia Z1 that took place in South Africa where a woman lost the $800 she paid for the phone because she believed what Sony said about the phone. Apparently the phone was not water proof and it broke. Tough luck. Maybe that was the only Xperia Z phone that wasn’t water proof? Who knows? Let’s hope that the new Xperia Z3v will enjoy a good swim without having to buy another phone.
The new Xperia Z3v will be available at Verizon for $199 with a 2 year contract. We consider it to be a great deal, especially because the phone comes with 32GB of internal memory. We still wonder what took Sony so long to make it available at Verizon and forget about the exclusive T-Mobile arrangements.
