Lyft, the taxi app firn has been blasted by Uber, over allegations of Lyft rides being ordered deliberately by Uber Staff, which were then cancelled.
Lyft stated that 5,560 requests were logged for rides from Uber Staff since the 3rd of October 2013 and that there were many cases wherein people ordered short Lyft rides and then spent time for recruiting the driver for switching to Uber, although, there is no suggestion that the head office have ordered these pitches.
Erin Simpson, the spokeswoman of Lyft says that this is quite unfortunate for the community members that such tactics are used. The time of the driver is wasted and the next passenger who waits for that driver is impacted. She also said that their main focus was on the fast growth of business as compared to other competitors through innovation and better customer experience.
As per the figures that Lyft provided, 1 person identified by 7 of the drivers as Uber recruiter booked and then cancelled 300 rides in a period of 15 days. The phone number of that person was associated with 21 user accounts and it total, it accounts for 1,524 cancelled rides with Lyft.
Another Uber employee is accused of having set up 14 different accounts, that accounts for around 680 cancellations. These figures are just stated by Lyft and verifiable data for the same has not yet been revealed.
However, the spokesperson of Uber states that the claims of Lyft against them are simply untrue and are baseless. Furthermore, the own employees and drivers of Lyft have cancelled around 12,900 trips on Uber.
It has been claimed by Uber that several Lyft investors have tried putting pressure on it for buying out Lyft. Whatever, the wrongs and rights of the figures are, it is clear that this battle is getting very ugly.
