Has Alzheimer started to affect the mind of younger people as well? The cruel disease might become a serious danger for people between 40 and 50 years old, and medical experts haven’t yet found the cause.
So far, the only ones who had to worry about Alzheimer were the elder ones, but statistics have shown that even though this is the general belief, exceptions might occur.
There is a restrained group of people who could present Alzheimer symptoms from earlier ages. Reports showed that 5% of people diagnosed with Alzheimer have ages between 40 and 50 years.
The symptoms of early Alzheimer aren’t different from the regular symptoms, stated professor of psychiatry and director of Alzheimer disease, Mary Sano. Because people under the age of 65 aren’t taking into account that they could get the disease so early, symptoms are usually hard to be recognised by themselves or close people. By the time they arrive to the doctor it is most probable they’ve been having peculiar symptoms. Usually the alarm is ringed by friends and family members who come in contact with the person often.
Scientists wish to demonstrate that the problem of the disease is not psychological or physical but rather cognitive related.
Having younger people as patients will allow experts to study more profoundly the disease. For an accurate diagnosis, it is best to know more about the family health history. A person can find out if its body contains the gene mutation that increases the risk for having the disease in the family, but this doesn’t demonstrate that they have the disease or will have it.
Symptoms of early Alzheimer don’t present themselves by forgetting your cell phone at home or not remembering where you placed your keys, but facts that can change your whole lifestyle. For example, signs that should start worrying you are, counting o your friends or family to do things you usually were handling alone, often use of memory devices or backing out from work or social life.
No matter the age occurrence, Alzheimer cannot be treated and the lost memory cannot be recovered. However, there is medicine that can slow down the process of memory damage, in order for the affected patients to live a close to normal life.
An active social life and physical activity can keep the brain trained and more aware. Games that exercise the brain, such as crossword puzzles can help people with early Alzheimer symptoms. Speaking a second language has also proven efficient.
